DO'S & DONT'S

DO'S Taxis are plentiful in the Bahamas. Do negotiate your fare or ask the driver to turn on the meter before boarding the taxi. Do experience the less touristy side of the Bahamas. Visit an isolated beach, a local restaurant and village. DONT'S Don't sunbathe or swim in the nude. These are illegal activities in the Bahamas. Don't worry about changing money if you're a US citizen. The US dollar is accepted everywhere. Don't be surprised if you're called "darling" or "honey" in the Bahamas. It's a common greeting in the Bahamas. People are very friendly here (like you find in small villages in India). For people from New Jersey, this will be a culture shock. Don't expect to find full banking services on all islands. Make sure you have enough cash or traveler's checks if you go beyond Nassau or Freeport/Lucaya.
